The Concert

This concert offers a musical journey full of colours, emotions, and contrasts, led by the flute and the piano —two voices that together create a rich and expressive dialogue.

It is divided into three sections that showcase the versatility of this ensemble and connect with different moods and musical landscapes.
The first part features works written especially for flute and piano, where the lightness and elegance of the flute converse with the harmonic depth of the piano, with pieces by Cécile Chaminade, Henri Perilhou, and others.

The second part travels through Spanish and Latin American music, with Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albéniz, and Astor Piazzolla, evoking folk dances, distant landscapes, and deep emotions.

The final part focuses on melodies inspired by opera, with repertoire by Giuseppe Verdi, blending brilliance and drama.

Flutist Catalina Roig, born in Santanyí, has been part of several chamber ensembles and has participated in numerous music festivals, as well as collaborating with orchestras such as the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra. With a long teaching career, she combines musical expressiveness with a refined command of her instrument, the result of solid training in Mallorca and Barcelona.

Pianist Rafael González Paz, born in Montevideo and based in Ibiza, has performed on prestigious stages throughout Europe and Latin America, including the Teatro Solís in Montevideo, Teatro del Lago in Frutillar, Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile, and the Palace of Arts in Budapest. He has collaborated with various chamber groups and, since 2022, has maintained a close relationship with the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra. Trained in Germany and Hungary, he is known for his refined and expressive interpretations, blending intellectual depth with sonic sensitivity.

The duo presents varied programmes that explore different eras and styles, with particular attention to the context and language of each piece.
