Biography
Rafael González Paz is a Uruguayan pianist born in 1988 in Montevideo. Throughout his career, he has performed in renowned venues across several countries, including the Solís Theatre (Montevideo), the Teatro del Lago (Frutillar), the Municipal Theatre of Santiago (Chile), and the Palace of Arts in Budapest.
He has taken part in multiple seasons of the National Radio of Uruguay’s Chamber Music Series (SODRE), offering concerts both in Montevideo and throughout the country. In Mallorca, he participates in festivals such as Clàssica Maria de la Salut and the International Festival Vila de Santanyí.
In addition to his solo work, he has collaborated with chamber music groups across South America and Europe. Since 2022, he has had a close collaboration with the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra.
He began his studies in Montevideo with Carmen Mutarelli and Raquel Boldorini. He then continued with María Iris Radrigán in Santiago de Chile, where he won First Prize and the Medal of Honor at the Flora Guerra Piano Competition. He pursued further studies in Europe with Grigory Gruzman (University of Music in Weimar) and with Rita Wagner and András Kemenes at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, where he earned Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees with honors. He has also received private coaching from acclaimed pianist Homero Francesch.
Rafael has lived in Mallorca since 2018, combining performance with teaching. He has been a faculty member at the Higher Conservatory of Music of the Balearic Islands and the Municipal Music School of Santanyí. He currently teaches piano at the Conservatory of Felanitx and Queen’s College in Palma.
